Articles of note: The proposed appropriation for the fire department is $337,000 and the appropriation for the Thetford Library Federation is $130,000.

Contested races: David Forbes and John Piecuch are vying for one-year to complete a three-year term on the Selectboard. Li Shen is running for a three-year term and David W. Goodrich is running for a two-year term. On the school side, Nicholas Cook is running for a three-year term and Stephanie Hareld for a two-year term.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed general fund budget is $2.42 million, of which $1.46 million is to come from taxes. Last year’s proposed general fund budget was $1.77 million. The proposed Department of Public Works budget is $1.57 million, of which $1.33 million is to come from taxes. Last year’s proposed highway budget was $1.54 million. The proposed school budget is $10.1 million, up from $9.34 million last year.  

When, where and how to vote: The School District annual meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at 9 a.m. at Thetford Academy. Town Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at 10 a.m., also at the academy. Australian ballot voting for officers will take place on Tuesday, March 5 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Thetford Town Hall, 3910 VT Route 113.
