CHELSEA — The Selectboard is seeking to fill a vacancy after a member of the five-person board resigned earlier this month.

Jesse Kay, who was elected to the Selectboard for a two-year term at the 2023 Town Meeting, resigned Dec. 2.

“My decision to resign prior to the end of my term was not made lightly, but due to personal circumstance,” wrote Kay in her resignation letter. “I believe it is the right time for me to step down and allow someone else the opportunity to serve.”

The Selectboard is “attempting to find a suitable replacement until an election can be made at the Town Meeting in March,” Tierney Farago, Chelsea’s town administrator, wrote in an email to the Valley News.

There is no deadline for the board to make an appointment, Farago said.

Residents interested in being appointed can email or call Farago at town.administrator@chelseavt.us or 802-625-2023.
