Route 5 in Newbury to close for culvert replacement

NEWBURY, Vt. — Route 5 in Newbury will close for 34 hours later this week as state transportation crews work to repair a failed culvert.

Traffic will close just north of Longmoore Hill Road from 7 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 until 5 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 1 while work crews repair the culvert, according to a news release from the Vermont Agency of Transportation.

Signs will be posted to detour traffic via Route 302 on the north end and across the river to Rt. 10 and the loop back via Newbury Crossing Road across the river again to Route 5 on the south end, VTrans said.

Information about Route 5 reopening will be available via notification service New England 511.
