NORWICH — After a town-wide reassessment, the total value of property in town is $1.26 billion.
Norwich’s abstract grand list, a preliminary calculation of the value of all of the property in town, is up 62% from the 2024 grand list. Last year’s assessments are based on a valuation done in 2016.
Residents who wish to challenge their reassessment must provide written notice to the listers of intent to grieve by 4:30 p.m. on July 16. Written notice can be filed in person, by mail or by email to Listers@norwich.vt.us.
Grievance hearings are scheduled to go from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning July 17 and will continue until all grievances are heard. All of the 15-minute appointment slots for next Thursday have been filled and the listers are working on scheduling appointments for Friday and Monday, lister Cheryl Lindberg said Thursday.
The listers “should be able to meet” the statutory Aug. 15 deadline to file the final grand list, Lindberg said.
“If it can be sooner and we have fewer grievances, that would be wonderful,” she said.
