HANOVER — Make it three Ivy League wins in a row for the Dartmouth College women’s lacrosse team.
The Big Green won a back-and-forth battle, 15-14, over No. 24 Princeton on Saturday, putting them in position to potentially earn a spot in the conference tournament.
Dartmouth took an early 4-0 lead and led 5-2 after the first quarter, but the Tigers roared back with six unanswered goals in the second to take an 8-5 lead into halftime.
The Big Green were not finished, though, scoring five straight goals of their own during a 10-minute stretch that bridged the third and fourth periods.
Katie Elders and Katina Christensen scored four goals each for Dartmouth, Lucy Murray added three, Boo Dewitt scored twice and Catherine Erb and Jenna Donohue each tallied once. Dewitt added two assists and Murray had one.
Princeton had the slightest of edges in shots on goal, 26-25, but the Big Green won 18 draw controls to the Tigers’ 14. Goalkeeper Gisele Todd made 12 saves in the victory.
Dartmouth (6-8, 3-3 Ivy League) concludes the regular season Saturday at No. 14 Penn, which is undefeated in conference play and has already wrapped up the regular-season title. Harvard is in second place at 4-2 in Ivy play, and the Big Green are tied with Yale, Cornell and Princeton for third.
PHILADELPHIA — The Big Green were no match Saturday for the nationally-ranked Quakers, who outscored Dartmouth 5-1 in each of the first three quarters.

Dartmouth’s six goals came from six different players — Colin McGill, Peter Rizzotti, Quinn Moore, Nate Davis, Emmett Paradine and Holden Deck. Rizzotti’s goal was his first of the season.
Penn’s edge in shots on goal was just 25-21, though, and the Big Green actually dominated in the face-off circle, 18-9.
Dartmouth (6-5, 1-4 Ivy League) hosts Brown to finish the regular season Saturday.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Big Green entered the weekend holding onto a top-four spot in the Ivy League standings and left New Haven firmly on the outside looking in after the Bulldogs run-ruled them, 9-0, on Friday and then swept two close games in Saturday’s doubleheader.
Dartmouth took an early lead in Saturday’s first game, but Yale went up by six through five innings thanks to three RBIs each from Lauren and Alex Perren. The Big Green battled back with two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh, but came up short, 7-5. Kate Farren had three hits and scored twice, and Ashley Frantz, Lauren Ben-Ezra and Alaana Panu had two hits apiece. But of the Big Green’s 12 hits in the game, just two went for extra bases, both doubles.
The nightcap was a similar story, with Dartmouth scoring the game’s first run, falling well behind and nearly coming all the way back in a 6-5 loss. Lauren Perren’s bases-clearing double gave the Bulldogs a 6-1 lead in the fourth before the Big Green began chipping away. Farren’s RBI double, Panu’s sacrifice fly and Jenna Brown’s RBI single brought Dartmouth within one, but Maria Angelino was called out on strikes to end it.
Dartmouth (12-20, 6-9 Ivy League) heads to Holy Cross on Tuesday before hosting first-place Princeton over the weekend.
NEW YORK — Sandwiched between two blowout losses, Dartmouth had a very real chance to earn its first Ivy League victory, and against one of the conference’s premier programs. In the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader, the Big Green led the Lions by four early but faced a five-run deficit entering the ninth inning.
No matter. Thanks to clutch run-scoring hits by Kolton Freeman, Elliot Krewson and Max Zajec, Dartmouth tied the game up and sent it to extra innings, where it was suspended until Sunday due to darkness. The Big Green then plated two in the top of the 10th before Columbia matched them, and the Lions walked it off on a sacrifice fly in the 12th, 14-13.
Third baseman Connor Bertsch was 5-for-6 in the wild affair, raising his batting average by 47 points. Freeman and Zajec had three hits each, with Freeman and Krewson each driving in three runs.
Dartmouth also led Sunday’s regularly-scheduled game from the first inning until the fifth, when Columbia began to pull away in an 8-2 Big Green loss. Dartmouth (1-31, 0-15 Ivy League) will be at Holy Cross on Tuesday, then at Brown for three games over the weekend.
HANOVER — Dartmouth was shut out, 4-0, by Princeton on Saturday, but edged Penn, 4-3, on Sunday to avoid a winless Ivy League campaign.
Against the Tigers, Katie Weber (No. 4 singles) and Brooke Hess (No. 6 singles) each won the first set, but their matches went unfinished once Princeton clinched the overall victory.
The following afternoon, top doubles pairing Chidimma Okpara and Ashley Hess claimed a 6-3 victory, and the No. 3 team of Emily Zhou and Lexi Dewire dominated, 6-1, to give the Big Green the first point of the match. Okpara, at No. 1, and Dewire, at No. 6, each won their singles matches in straight sets, and No. 5 singles player Brooke Hess came back from a set down to win and clinch the match for Dartmouth (5-14, 1-6 Ivy League).
Dartmouth’s only win in either match over the weekend came in doubles Saturday against the Tigers.
The No. 1 team of Miles Groom and Waleed Qadir earned a 6-4 win, and the No. 2 pairing of Alex Knox-Jones and Alejandro Quiles won 6-2. The Big Green finished the regular season 11-14, 1-6 in Ivy League play.
