WOODSVILLE — Beginning later this month, construction will result in daytime lane closures and alternating traffic patterns on Route 135 on the Raymond S. Burton Bridge between Bath, N.H., and Woodsville.

Beginning April 23, temporary signals will direct traffic through the work zone on the bridge, which carries Route 135 over the Ammonoosuc River, according to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, or NHDOT.

Between April 14 and 18, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., workers will install construction signage, message boards and traffic signals.

Construction is expected to continue for several months.

The work will include removal and replacement of the bridge deck pavement, along with other bridge rehabilitation. The pedestrian access across the bridge will remain open at all times.

R.M. Piper Inc. of Plymouth, N.H., is the prime contractor for the $900,000 contract with a completion date of October.
