BOSTON — A Vershire man with an extensive criminal history has been sentenced in federal court in Boston for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition on charges dating back to 2019.

Dominick Bailey, 57, was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston said in a news release on Aug. 9. He had pleaded guilty in December 2021.

In November 2019, Bailey, a felon who was prohibited from possessing of firearms because of prior criminal convictions, and a Massachusetts man were arrested in Boston and charged with possession of four firearms, including an AR-15 style rifle capable of accepting a large capacity magazine. Along with a Massachusetts co-defendant, Bailey had arranged to transport the firearms from Vermont to Boston in exchange for a quantity of methamphetamine, according to federal prosecutors.

This was Bailey’s third federal conviction for being a felon in possession of firearms, having been twice convicted of the same charge in U.S. District Courts in Vermont and New Hampshire, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Bailey has a long criminal history around Vershire, with convictions for at least five felonies and 11 misdemeanors, court records show.

Past charges have included forgery, lewd and lascivious conduct, possessing stolen property, receiving stolen property, possession of a weapon, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
