WEST LEBANON — A 55-year-old Claremont man faces charges in connection with two vehicle fires early Wednesday morning behind Town Fair Tire on South Main Street.
Police arrested David Merrill Thursday at an apartment in Claremont “without incident,” according to a Friday news release issued by the Lebanon Police Department.
Merrill faces two felony charges for arson and criminal mischief, and a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass. He was released on personal recognizance bail. He is currently being held in the Sullivan County jail for a probation violation.
Members of the Lebanon Police and Fire departments responded to the fires on South Main Street at about 3 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters extinguished the flames in two unoccupied vehicles in a wooded area behind Town Fair Tire. The Police Department began an investigation that ended in a warrant being issued for Merrill.
Merrill is scheduled to be arraigned in Lebanon District Court on April 7.
