CLAREMONT — The New Hampshire Department of Transportation will close the bridge on Route 12A over the Sugar River in West Claremont during the day for at least two days next week.

The bridge will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, July 17 and 18, and possibly the Friday, the 19, according to a DOT news release.

The bridge will be closed to all traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and motorists will be advised of the detour route around the closure.

Construction crews will be removing the steel from the northbound lane.

The rehabilitation of the 275-foot bridge includes replacing the structural and steel plate girders and bridge deck, substructure repairs and the installation of measures to protect the piers and abutments. The bridge was built in 1967 and last rehabilitated in 1991.

The $5.7 million project is scheduled to be completed in September 2025, the DOT said.
