New Hampshire State Police and local SWAT teams responded to reports of shots fired in the area near the Federal House Inn in on Route 25 Plymouth, N.H., just before 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. 

Hours later the standoff ended when a man was fatally shot by police.

Just before 4 p.m., State Police released a statement indicating that the subject had become barricaded. Route 25 at the traffic circle remained closed into Wednesday afternoon. 

Early Thursday morning, the Attorney General’s office reported it was investigating an officer-involved shooting at the Plymouth inn.

“Police responded to the area following a disturbance call at the Inn Wednesday afternoon where they arrived to find the man armed and barricaded inside,” the Attorney General’s Office said in a statement. “Engagement with the barricaded male was ongoing at the time of the incident.”

Police did not release the identity of the man who was killed, or the name of the officers who shot him. 

No officers were injured during the incident.
