Springfield Town Meeting preview

Article of note: There are nine warrant articles for proposed zoning amendments. A petitioned article asks whether voters will call on state elected officials to reject expansion of taxpayer funding for private education.

Contested race: There are two people running for one three-year term on the Selectboard: George McCusker and Jennifer Roberts.

Budget and spending articles: The proposed operating budget is $1.77 million, down from $1.85 million last year. A separate article seeks $200,000, with $100,000 to come from the unreserved fund balance, for highway repair and maintenance.

When, where and how to vote: Ballot voting will take place on Tuesday, March 11 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Springfield Meeting House, 23 Four Corners Road. The floor meeting will take place on Saturday, March 15 at 9:30 a.m. at the Meeting House.
