ROYALTON — Royalton Town Administrator Victoria Paquin will leave her role in May.
Paquin, who has served as town administrator since January 2020, announced her resignation on April 8; her last day is May 9.
Royalton Selectboard Chairman Stuart Levasseur said in an email that it “has not been decided” who will fill Paquin’s role on an interim basis during the search for her successor.
“I’m sure they’ll find a way to make it work,” Paquin said.
The current plan is to hire two people to fill Paquin’s role: a town administrator and a town finance administrator.
“The board felt like sometimes it could be difficult to hire one person to hire that has the management experience and the finance experience so they decided to split it into two,” Paquin said.
The town administrator job posting lists a minimum salary of $65,000 for the 40-hour a week position. Among the requirements are a degree in public administration, political science, or business management, and/or a minimum of three years of working in administration or in management in municipal government or business “or a combination of equivalent experience as the Selectboard deems sufficient,” according to a job posting on Royalton’s website.
“The selected candidate will exhibit a commitment to the town’s goals and objectives as determined by its voters, Selectboard, and commissions and will exhibit initiative, leadership, and judgment in the administration of all affairs placed in his/her charge,” according to the job description.

The finance administrator role is being advertised as a 24+ hour per week role, with a $30 to $40 per hour pay rate. Whoever is hired for the job “will assist the Selectboard in priorities related to finance, budgeting, accounting, grants, and insurance,” according to a job description posted to the town website. The Selectboard is also asking that applicants have an associate’s degree or a minimum of five years of experience working as a bookkeeper and computerized accounting.
Paquin said she is leaving Royalton for another local government job, but declined to say which town she is heading.
“It’s been a good time,” Paquin said about her five years in Royalton.
