Royalton closes bridge after inspection

ROYALTON — The Royalton Hill Bridge, also known as the Foxstand Bridge, closed following an inspection on Tuesday, which identified a safety concern.

The bridge, which spans the White River between Royalton Hill Road and Route 14 near Exit 3 on Interstate 89, will remain closed until further notice, according to a Tuesday Facebook post from the town.

The closing comes after a Vermont Agency of Transportation contractor identified “a significant concern with a gusset plate,” used to connect a bridge joint, during a full bridge inspection on Tuesday.

Additional evaluations are planned.
