Annual Meeting: Rivendell voters approve $14.7 million school budget

ORFORD — Voters at the floor meeting of the Rivendell Interstate School District on Tuesday evening approved a budget of $14.7 million in a paper ballot vote, 134-111, according to acting School Clerk Brenda Gray.

Voters, from Fairlee, Orford, Vershire and West Fairlee, also approved all other money items by voice vote, including: $50,000 for the Repairs and Maintenance Contingency Reserve; $50,000 for repairing a section of the Academy roof; $60,000 for required Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades at the Academy; $40,000 for security upgrades at the schools; and $44,000 for upgrades to theater lighting equipment at the Academy.

In ballot voting, voters elected David Ricker for a three-year term representing Orford on the School Board. He beat Charles Smith Jr. for the post.

In uncontested School Board races, Sara E. Day won a one-year at-large position; David Gagner won a three-year term representing Fairlee; and Kathy Hooke won a three-year term representing Vershire.
