Satcowitz and Tyler win Randolph Selectboard seats

RANDOLPH — Voters settled two contested Selectboard races on Tuesday.

Stephanie Tyler beat out Philip Williams Sr. for a three-year term, 504-198, and Larry Satcowitz bested Tom Harty for a two-year seat on the board, 450-359.

Voters approved a general fund budget of $3.4 million, of which $1.7 million would come from taxes, as well as a highway budget of $2.3 million, of which $1.9 million would come from taxes.

They OK’d a $431,000 budget for Kimball Public Library.

Also approved were a police district budget of $821,000, a water district budget of $685,000 and a sewer district budget of $954,000.

From the floor on Saturday, voters opted to indefinitely delay votes on authorizing the Selectboard to appoint a town clerk and a town treasurer.

On the school side, voters approved a $27.1 million budget for the Orange Southwest School District, which in addition to Randolph also includes Brookfield and Braintree, Vt.

They elected Anne Kaplan and Martha Hafner to three-year terms representing Randolph on the School Board.
