Randolph Town Meeting preview

Article of note: Separate articles to be discussed and voted during the floor meeting ask whether voters will authorize the Selectboard to appoint a town clerk and a town treasurer.

Contested races: Stephanie Tyler and Philip Williams Sr. are vying for a three-year term on the Selectboard. Larry Satcowitz and Tom Harty are vying for a two-year seat on the board.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed general fund budget is $3.4 million, of which $1.7 million would come from taxes. The proposed highway budget is $2.3 million, of which $1.9 million would come from taxes. The proposed budget for Kimball Public Library is $431,000, of which $370,000 would come from taxes. The proposed police district budget is $821,000, of which $518,000 would come from taxes. The proposed water district budget is $685,000. The proposed sewer district budget is $954,000. The proposed budget for the Orange Southwest School District, which in addition to Randolph also includes Brookfield and Braintree, Vt., is $27.1 million.

When, where and how to vote: A public hearing and informational meeting will take place on Monday, Feb. 24, at 5:30 p.m. in-person at 7 Summer Street or online via Zoom. In-person Town Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, at 10 a.m. at Chandler Music Hall, 71-73 North Main Street. The in-person Orange Southwest School District meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 3, at 6 p.m. in the auditorium at Randolph Union High School. Australian ballot voting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 7 Summer Street.
