WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A Quechee man who has twice been involved in incidents in which he was shot was found in violation of his probation and ordered to report to residential treatment program.
James Luce, 23, of Luce Meadow Road in Quechee, who was already serving a suspended sentence after pleading guilty in December to misdemeanors of simple assault and reckless operation of a vehicle in December, was ordered to report to the Hartford Probation and Parole office following his violation of probation hearing in Windsor Superior Court on Tuesday.
He was also ordered to report to a residential treatment program at Serenity House in Wallingford, Vt.
Luce admitted to using crack and fentanyl following an overdose shortly after his December conviction and in violation of conditions of his release, including not abiding by his curfew and showing up at his work crew site under the influence of drugs, according to court documents.
In 2019, Luce received an abrasion wound when he was shot by a Vermont state trooper after showing signs of resisting arrest following a domestic disturbance in Hartford.
Then in 2022, Luce was shot in the face while in a room with other people at Super 8 Motel in White River Junction. No charges were ever filed in that incident, according to court records.
