Norwich Town Meeting preview

Article of note: One article asks whether voters support allowing the election of Vermont residents who are not Norwich residents to be elected or appointed to town offices.

Contested races: There are no contested races for Selectboard or School Board.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed town general fund budget is $6.7 million, up from $6.2 million last year. The proposed school operating budget is $8.27 million, which is up from $7.95 million last year. Voters also will be asked whether to use $291,000 in surplus funds for Tracy Hall improvements; $200,000 in surplus for the DPW bridge fund #41 and $100,000 for an Emerald Ash Borer Response Fund. Voters also will be asked to appropriate $377,000 for the library.

When, where and how to vote: A town deliberative session is scheduled for Monday, March 3 at 7 p.m. at Tracy Hall, 300 Main Street. Australian ballot voting will take place on Tuesday, March 4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Tracy Hall.
