LYME — The school district announced last week that it is accepting applications for a new part-time superintendent for the 2025-2026 school year.

The district includes the Lyme School, which serves roughly 200 students in grades K-8, and about 100 high school students who attend nearby schools. Tuition agreements allow Lyme students to attend Lebanon and Hanover high schools and Rivendell, Thetford and St. Johnsbury Academies.

The anticipated start date for the new superintendent is July 1. No salary information was provided by the district. Applications will be accepted through January 21, according to the announcement posted on School Spring, a popular education job-search site.

Frank Perotti has served as Lyme’s interim superintendent since the August 2021 departure of Jeffery W. Valence.

In March 2023, the Lyme school board voted to hire Perotti as superintendent for a period of two years. That hiring decision prompted a vote of no-confidence from the Lyme School’s teachers union on the grounds that the board failed to follow the normal hiring process in appointing Perotti to the two-year term.

The school board is soliciting input from community members about the superintendent search. A link to a community survey may be found  in the most recent school newsletter and at: www.tinyurl.com/2ysbfkv2
