Baseball

Thetford 10, Vergennes 1

Key players: Thetford — Xander Oshoniyi and Miles Lawrence combined on a two-hitter. Oshoniyi and Owen Goodrich both homered for Thetford. Evan Patterson and Andrew Spooner added 2 RBI each.

Highlights: Thetford pulled away with a 4-run 3rd inning on their way to a Division III quarterfinal win. Oshoniyi (4 innings pitched) and Lawrence (3 innings) combined to strike out 10 Vergennes hitters. Thetford’s offense collected 12 hits, including home runs from Oshoniyi and Goodrich and two doubles by Spooner.

Hanover 14, Plymouth 3

Key players: Hanover — Allie Muirhead earned the win for Hanover, allowing 2 hits and 3 runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out three. Wyn Casey pitched one inning of zero run ball in relief. Plymouth — Plymouth second baseman Kyle Dodge, caught a line drive, throwing the ball to first baseman Jake Sanborn, who then threw the ball to second base for a triple play!

Highlights: Hanover tallied 19 hits in the game. Jack Lobb, Jojo Drent, and Will Hopkins each collected 3 hits. Finn Ware, Hayden Avard, and Wyatt Daigle each had multiple hits. Hopkins and Muirhead each drove in 3 runs, Muirhead hitting a home run over the left field fence.

Records: Hanover 12-5; Plymouth 7-10
