CORINTH — A morning fire destroyed a single-family home on Camp Munn Road, displacing one resident, according to the Corinth Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a house fire at 440 Camp Munn Road at 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
The single-story house, which was heavily engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, was a total loss, Corinth Fire Chief Ed Pospisil said in a phone interview. The cause is under investigation by the state fire marshal, Pospisil said.
The sole occupant, homeowner Daniel Whitcomb, 65, was in the house when the fire began but escaped unharmed. He declined medical attention.
Because all his belongings were destroyed in the fire, Whitcomb received $350 from Red Cross and a new pair of shoes from the fire marshal, Pospisil said.
Red Cross placed Whitcomb in a motel room in Wells River, Vt.
Fire crews, including units from Vershire, Thetford, Chelsea, Orford, Piermont and Groton, Vt., were able to contain the fire at 12:45 p.m.
