SUNAPEE — Georges Mills Bridge will close to vehicle traffic starting on Monday, Sept. 11.

The closure of the bridge, which connects Main Street to Springfield Road, aims to mitigate wear and tear, and safeguard the bridge’s structural integrity as the town conducts a comprehensive assessment, according to a Thursday message from the Sunapee Highway Department to residents.

As a result of the closure of the bridge, there will no longer be a stop for eastern bound traffic on Main Street, but the stop will remain for those traveling west on Main Street and the stop at the bottom of Prospect Hill Road will be unchanged.
