Fairlee voters opt to allow Selectboard to appoint treasurer

FAIRLEE — In a floor vote on Tuesday, March 4, Town Meeting attendees voted to change the town treasurer from an elected position to one appointed by the Selectboard.

The 71 residents at Town Meeting re-elected Lance Mills to the Selectboard for a three-year term. There are 808 on the checklist, Town Clerk Georgette Ludwig said.

During the 49-minute meeting, all other warning articles passed, including a $1.47 million general fund budget with $1.11 million to come from taxes; a highway fund budget of $312,000, with $233,000 to come from taxes; and a capital budget with $348,000 to come from taxes.
