Enfield to hold hearing on SB 2 voting proposal

ENFIELD — Residents will have an opportunity to discuss a proposed switch from traditional Town Meeting to SB 2 style of voting during a public hearing 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Public Works Facility.

The petitioned warrant article, which was proposed by Debra Ford, will go before voters at Enfield’s floor meeting Saturday, March 16. It would require support of 60% of voters to pass. Under the SB 2 style of governance, residents can weigh in on articles during a deliberative session before voting on them during Australian ballot on New Hampshire’s Town Meeting day.

It will be the second time in as many years that Enfield residents consider a switch to SB 2. In 2022, a similar measure was defeated by 96 to 81, falling 10 votes shy of the 60% threshold.

Tuesday night’s hearing can also be streamed via Microsoft teams. More information can be found at https://www.enfield.nh.us/home/news/public-hearing-notice-adoption-sb2.
