EAST THETFORD — The bridge spanning the Connecticut River between East Thetford and Lyme is slated to close for 18 months beginning on Thursday, April 27, according to a news release from the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
The $8.94 million project aims to rehabilitate the East Thetford Road, Lyme, NH/VT Route 113 bridge, which was built in 1937, is currently on New Hampshire’s Red List and is posted for a reduced weight limit of 15 tons. New England Infrastructure of Hudson, Mass. is the prime contractor for the project.
During construction, which is slated for completion in October 2024, detours will take motorists seeking to cross the Connecticut River either north to Bridge Street, or Route 25A, between Fairlee and Orford, or south to the Ledyard Bridge between Norwich and Hanover.
