LEBANON — Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is one of 100 pilot sites for a national Anti-Stigma Initiative focused on improving care for people struggling with addiction, according to a Thursday news release.
The effort aims to reduce addiction stigma such as stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination, as well as to increase understanding of addiction.
As a pilot site, DHMC will participate in testing and evaluating new interventions and tools to measure stigma levels in the community.
By reducing stigma, the initiative aims to reduce barriers to treatment that may prevent people who are struggling with addiction from getting help.
