LEBANON — Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center has a new chief nursing officer, according to a Dartmouth Health news release.

Tracy Galvin, who started May 30, comes to DHMC in Lebanon from the 345-bed Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Mass. She had served as Lahey’s chief nursing officer and senior vice president since 2015. She worked her way up through the nursing ranks at Lahey, beginning in 1987.

As chief nursing officer at Lahey, Galvin’s focus on recruitment, retention and professional development resulted in high employee engagement scores and low staff turnover rates, the release said.

“As DHMC looks to the future at a time when healthcare is changing, having a leader like Tracy will inspire our nursing staff — who are critical to the care of our patients and success of our medical center — to deliver the best care possible and continuously strive to be better,” Susan A. Reeves, chief nursing executive of Dartmouth Health and executive vice president of DHMC, said in the release.

Galvin, who grew up in New Hampshire, holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Northeastern University and a Master of Science from Weston, Mass.-based Regis College, where she is currently pursuing a doctorate in nursing practice.
