Chelsea Town Meeting preview

Article of note: A ballot article asks voters whether they support a five-year property tax exemption for the Chelsea Health Center at 365 VT Route 110.

Contested races: There are no contested races for Selectboard. Paul Libby is running uncontested for the two-year position. Jennifer Chase and Katherine “Katie” Golden are running for town clerk. Current Town Clerk Karen Lathrop is retiring.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed general fund budget is $1.75 million, of which $1.14 million is to come from taxes. That’s up from the budget of $1.66 million, of which $1.06 million was to come from taxes, that voters approved last year.

When, where and how to vote: Town Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4 at 10 a.m. at Chelsea Town Hall. Australian ballot voting on officers and the tax exemption for the Chelsea Health Center is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at town hall.
