A Boscawen, N.H., boy suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a falling tree amid high winds while walking home from school on Friday.

As of Saturday, Kyle Murray, 12, was in critical condition at Boston Children’s Hospital, according to a GoFundMe page created on behalf of the family. Murray was in a medically-induced coma, suffering brain bleeds, a spleen laceration, fractured ribs, and several other injuries, according to the post.

The accident occurred on North Main Street during a violent windstorm Friday afternoon, according to the Boscawen Police Department.

“Kyle was pinned by a spruce tree that fell from the high winds directly on top of him,” the department said in a statement.

As of Sunday evening, the fundraiser had set a goal of $50,000.
