CHELSEA — Two Vermont drivers suffered serious injuries in a motor vehicle crash on Route 110 in Chelsea on Thursday morning, Vermont State Police reported, with one of the drivers cited to appear in court at a later date.

Mariah Lawrence, of Tunbridge, and Amanda Berard, of Graniteville, Vt., were transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon with “serious” injuries after state troopers responded to the scene of the crash at 9:17 a.m. and found Lawrence already being placed into an ambulance and Berard trapped inside her vehicle, state police said in a news release.

A 14-year-old juvenile passenger in Berard’s vehicle was also transported to DHMC with minor injuries, police said.

Berard, 40, who was not using a seatbelt, was issued a citation to appear in court on a later date, according to the news release.

Lawrence, 39, is director of the Tunbridge Public Library.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash, police said.
