Town Meeting preview: Relationship with KUA before Plainfield voters

Article of note: One article on the town warrant asks whether voters want to direct the Selectboard to appoint a committee to continue to study the town’s relationship with Kimball Union Academy in Meriden.

Contested races: There are no contested races.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed school operating budget is $7.8 million, which is up from $7.4 million proposed last year. Another article asks for $45,000 to replace sections of the elementary school floor with epoxy urethane. The proposed town budget is $2.7 million, up from $2.6 million last year. Other money items on the town warrant include: $313,000 for capital reserve and trust funds and $70,000 for a new wood chipper;

When, where and how to vote: Plainfield is scheduled to hold its Town Meeting ballot voting on officers on Tuesday, March 14 from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. in the Plainfield School gymnasium. The in-person school meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 18 at 9 a.m. and the in-person town meeting is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Both meetings will take place in the Plainfield School gym.
