Local roundup: Gaudette wins 200th as Hartford boys basketball trounces Milton

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Brayden Trombly scored 14 points and Christian Hathorn added 12 points and the Hartford High boys basketball team defeated Milton, 73-40, on Monday at Hanley Gym to improve to 9-1. 

The victory was the 200th of Hurricanes coach Mike Gaudette’s career, which has seen him work at Mascoma and White River Valley in addition to a previous stint at Hartford. Ayodele Lowe had 11 points and Sean Dunton had 10 for the Hurricanes, who visit undefeated Fair Haven on Thursday.

Spaulding 68, Thetford 50

THETFORD — Sophomore Boone Fahey led the Vermont Division III hosts with 16 points and senior Jacob Gilman had 13 points, but the Division II Crimson Tide improved to 9-0.

Spaulding outscored the Panthers, 22-10, during the second quarter and led by 16 points at halftime. Thetford (7-2) is at Hazen on Wednesday. The Panthers defeated the Wildcats, 47-44, on Jan. 11, which remains their lone loss.
