THETFORD — Thetford Academy’s Ava Hayden finished 12th among nearly 400 girls runners Saturday at the Woods Trail Run and Mascoma’s Gunner Currier finished 13th in the boys field of 520.

Hayden’s time was 21 minutes, 14 seconds. Estella Laird of Champlain Valley won the 5K in 19:47. Currier finished in 17:31, less than a minute behind winner Andrew Thornton-Sherman of St. Johnsbury, who crossed in 16:36.

Anya Young of White River Valley was 18th (21:43) and Thetford’s Ben Mattern finished 20th (17:48).

Thetford’s boys finished 12th out of 42 teams from around New England and the Panther girls were 15th out of 36 teams. Mascoma Valley’s boys were 16th, the top New Hampshire finish. Lebanon’s girls were 17th and Lebanon’s boys 19th.

HUDSON, N.H. — Lea Perreard led the Hanover girls cross country team to a second-place finish in the Battle of the Border meet, winning the 5K in 18:19.

The Hanover boys were third among 22 teams from New Hampshire and Massachusetts, with the Bears’ Lucian Gleiser finishing fourth in 16:02. Matthew Giardina of Bishop Guertin won the boys’ race in 15:32.

Also scoring for the Hanover girls in the field of 155 with 22 teams were Lila Muirhead (9th,19:15), Megan Faris (12th, 19:18), Lily Terry (27th 20:29) and Skylar Spiro (39th, 20:52). Ryan Faris (20th, 16:50), Ben Groves (35th, 17:12), Andrew Valentino (36th, 17:13) and Will Parker (45th, 17:17) scored for Hanover’s boys among the 158 runners.

“It was a really rainy day and made for some super challenging running,” said Hanover coach Eric Picconi. “Considering the rain that fell, times were fast.”

WOODSTOCK — Chloe Masillo scored four goals, Skye Cully two and Bonnie Krantz and Hannah Watson one each.

Imari Taylor and Rhianna Young combined for eight saves for White River.

“We made a few adjustments today to deal with injuries and weather,” White River coach Kim Prestridge said. “Sarah Rule and Logan Scott did a great job in the back. We were able to use our offside trap very successfully.”

Woodstock (6-3) visits Brattleboro (5-3-1) on Monday and White River (5-4) has a home date against Leland & Gray (7-2-1) on Tuesday.

SHARON — Lily Murray, Elisia Sonsalla and Lindsey O’Hearn scored for the Raptors with assists from Lyza Taylor, Erin Ricker and Allie Vogelien. Rivendell led 2-0 at the half.

Both teams return to action Tuesday with Sharon (1-7) visiting Arlington (9-1) and Rivendell (4-3) hosting Bellows Falls (1-7).

BOYS SOCCERWoodstock 4, Otter Valley 2

WOODSTOCK — The Wasps went up, 1-0, in the 39th minute when Reid Allegretti knocked home a shot off a rebound from a penalty kick by Ezra Lockhart.

Woodstock took command in the second half with a header by Lockhart off a corner from Bode Wood and Allegretti scored his second of the game for a 3-1 lead. Luke Hecker scored with five minutes remaining.

“It was a game that felt like it could go either way until the last five minutes, but a deserved win for the team,” said Woodstock coach Rob Stainton. “A great way to end a run of four games in eight days.”

Woodstock (5-5) visits Hartford (4-4-2) on Wedneday.

FootballWindsor 32, Springfield 6

WINDSOR — The Yellowjackets won their 27th consecutive game, improved to 5-0 and dropped the Cosoms to 3-3.

Brady Olmstead opened the scoring with a 65-yard run and that was followed by a 30-yard pass to Anthony Cook from Corey Lockwood, giving Windsor a 12-6 halftime lead.

In the second half, Lockwood connected with Daniel Steffenson for a 60-yard score, then Gavin Martin and Brody Osgood had touchdown runs of 4 and 6 yards respectively. Olmstead ran for a two-point conversion.

Windsor next hosts Mill River (3-3).
