Hanover wins six-team meet
at Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON — With two meets left before the state championships on Feb. 15, the Hanover swim team is working to have as many athletes as possible achieve state meet qualifying times, Hanover coach Trent Staat said.

On Friday, the Bears swam against several schools, including Stevens, at a meet hosted by Kearsarge at the Hogan Center on the campus of Colby-Sawyer College.

Hanover’s Elizabeth Staats won the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke and was on the winning 200-yard medley relay with Sofia Ye, Iris Freeman and Claire Uiterwyk.

Stevens’ Sara Gaspard won the 50-yard free and 100-yard butterfly and was on the 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished first with Aubree Herzog, Emilee Hall and Raegyn Brothers. Landes Hough of Hanover won the 50-yard free, teammate David Viazmenski took the 100-yard breaststroke, and Uiterwyk was victorious in the 100-yard free.

“Great progress from everyone as we move through these last, challenging meets of the season,” Staats said.

Hanover came out on top in the dual-meet format, with the Stevens girls beating Concord, Plymouth, Kearsarge and Sunapee.
