Downtown Lebanon fire crews begin temporary relocation

LEBANON — The city’s began relocating its downtown fire station this week to temporary sites on city-owned land that will house personnel, equipment and apparatuses during the construction of a new firehouse to replace its aging facility on South Park Street.

On Monday, fire department administrators began moving their offices from the Central Fire Station to the SAU building at 20 Seminary Hill. Their relocation is expected to be completed on Thursday, according to a city news release. Fire administration, which oversees both the downtown and Web Lebanon fire stations, will occupy space on SAU building’s third floor. 

The temporary sites will be in use until the completion of a $22.3 million project, which will involve demolishing the existing fire station and building a new facility in the same location that meets modern operating and safety standards.

Construction is expected to start this fall and to be completed in December 2025.
