Lebanon opens daytime warming shelters

LEBANON — The city’s libraries are open this week as warming shelters to protect people from extreme cold.

Lebanon Public Library and Kilton Library in West Lebanon will be open as warming shelters this week. Tuesday through Thursday, the Lebanon Public Library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Kilton Library is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both libraries are open Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to a notice from the Lebanon Fire Department. 

Temperatures are expected to be below freezing all week, and drop into the single digits or below zero at night, according to AccuWeather. The Lebanon Library is working with the city’s Emergency Management Division to provide the shelters.

The Lebanon Public Library is at 9 East Park Street and the Kilton Library is at 80 Main Street in West Lebanon. 

Lebanon’s seasonal low-barrier shelter is also currently open at 160 Mechanic Street as an overnight shelter with space for 13 people. The shelter at 160 Mechanic Street is open daily from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.
