HARTFORD — A Hartford High School student who placed in the top 10 in a national singing competition needs more votes to make it to the next round.

People can vote for Macy Bettwieser, who was one of more than 250 high school students around the country who entered Broadway World’s Next On Stage contest, at broadwayworld.com/nextonstagehighschool/macy-bettwieser before midnight Wednesday.

Bettwieser, a senior, submitted an audition tape in late October and learned in early December that she was named a top 15 finalist, according to a news release from Hartford High School. Last Friday, she was voted into the top 10.

If Bettwieser wins, she will perform at the 54 Below Live Finale in New York City on Jan. 19.

“The Next On Stage competition is one of the most intense competitions for high school and college students who want to pursue a career in performing arts,” Hartford High choral director Andrea Nardone said in the release.
