CLAREMONT — State troopers caught two teen drivers going well over 100 mph in New Hampshire over the weekend.
First, a 17-year-old Claremont boy was clocked operating a 2008 BMW 3 Series vehicle at 109 mph in a 65 mph posted zone in the northbound lane of Interstate 93 on Saturday at 10:30 p.m., according to a New Hampshire State Police news release.
He was summoned to appear in Concord District Court on a charge of reckless operation.
Next, only three hours later, at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, similarly in a 65 mph zone in the northbound lane on I-93 in Bow, N.H., an 18-year-old Concord woman driving a 2013 Volvo S60 was clocked speeding at 124 mph, police said in the news release.
As the trooper caught up to the Volvo, the driver flipped the lights off. But as the trooper got behind the car, the driver turned the lights back on and pulled over, police said.
The Volvo driver was arrested and charged with reckless operation and disobeying an officer. She was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Concord District Court at a later date.
