Time for a check-up

John Echternach, of South Strafford, Vt., looks over the clock mechanism at the Strafford Meeting House on Monday, April 1, 2024, in Strafford. Echternach has been volunteering for seven years to take care of the clock in the tower's building. He checks on it about once a month. He had been there the previous week to make adjustment, and was back to check the time. The mechanized clock was installed in 1935 -- since then, its bells have rung over three million times.
