Articles of note: One article asks voters to approve the creation of a Culverts Fund to replace culverts in town and to seed the fund with an initial amount of $150,000. They’ll also be asked to direct surplus funds to the Fire Apparatus Fund #6 in the amount of $300,000; as well as $200,000 for the Highway Garage Fund #8 for a DPW garage; and $500,000 for improvements to Tracy Hall. Another article asks for a $365,000 appropriation to the Norwich Public Library Association for operating expenses.

Contested races: Three people are running for one three-year seat on the Selectboard: Mary Layton, Chuck Tufankjian and Douglas Wilberding. Priscilla Vincent is running unopposed for a two-year seat on the Selectboard. Neil Odell is running unopposed for a three-year seat on the Norwich and Dresden school boards. Garrett Palm is unopposed for a two-year seat on the Norwich School Board.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed general fund budget is $6.2 million, up from $5.5 million last year. The proposed school operating budget is $7.95 million, which is up from $7.24 million last year. 

When, where and how to vote: Australian ballot voting will take place on Tuesday, March 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Tracy Memorial Hall.
