GRANBY, Vt. — A 49-year-old Newport, N.H., man died from injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash in Vermont in late June, Vermont State Police reported over the past weekend.

Michael Flanagan, of Newport, succumbed to his injuries at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where he was taken in critical condition following a motorcycle crash on DC Line Road in Granby. Vt., on June 29, VSP said in a news release dated August 19.

A passerby came upon the scene and the operator of the motorcycle, later identified as Flanagan, was transported in critical condition to DHMC.

A preliminary investigation indicates Flanagan’s motorcycle was the only vehicle involved and it appears he loss control and crashed into a ditch, Vermont State Police said in the news release.

Flanagan died July 9 but release of information about the accident was delayed by Vermont State Police because of questions over whether the location of the crash site met the definition of a public highway, according to a police spokesman.
