Local roundup: Late goal lifts Woodstock girls hockey over Burr & Burton
MANCHESTER, Vt. — Kassidy Haley’s second goal of the game with three minutes left in the second period broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Woodstock High girls hockey team to a 2-1 win over Burr & Burton, the top-ranked team in VPA Division II entering the night, on Wednesday at Riley Rink.
Gracelyn Laperle assisted on both Haley goals for Woodstock (14-4), which tied the Bulldogs (13-3-2) on point rating with the victory.
Haley’s first goal came early in the second period. Burr & Burton evened the score about halfway through the period. The Bulldogs out-shot Woodstock, 16-10. Meridian Bremel earned the win in goal for Woodstock, which hosts Rice on Saturday.
BOXBOROUGH, Mass. — A power-play goal by Julia Lawe got the Bears on the board in the second period, Nora Bradley doubled it in the third, and Hanover went on to an out-of-state victory at the Nashoba Valley Olympia Rink.
Acton closed to within one goal with about a minute remaining, but an empty-netter with 17 seconds left by Maeve Lee sealed the win.
Maggie Feng had two assists, and Mackenzie Liu and Kali McDonnell had one each. Eleanor Edson made 29 saves to earn the victory.
Hanover (12-3-2 overall, 10-3-2 NHIAA) hosts Oyster River on Saturday for Senior Day.
KEENE, N.H. — Olivia Pollard scored a pair of goals just 26 seconds apart early in the second period and Andy Lindquist made 18 saves for the Raiders in a win over the Blackbirds at Keene Ice.

It was the third straight one-goal win for LSK (8-6).
“Another gutsy effort by our team,” LSK coach Mike Sheehan said. “You could see we were playing back-to-back games in the third period, but Andy Lindquist made a couple of great saves to preserve the win.”
LSK plays Exeter at Campion Rink on Saturday.
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Madelyn Durkee’s overtime goal capped a wild win for the Hurricanes.
Hartford held a 3-2 lead after one period on goals by Braelyn Park, Nedra Dwinell and Zoe Zanleoni.
In the second, Hartford went ahead 4-2 on Park’s second goal before Missisquoi tied it with two quick tallies by Rory Schreindorfer, who had a hat trick. The Hurricanes regained the lead soon after on Zanleoni’s second goal before the Thunderbirds tied it again with about 3½ minutes left.
Sophie Trombley and Flynn Moreno had two assists each for Hartford.
Hartford (10-8) is at Harwood on Saturday.
NASHUA, N.H. — The Bears erupted for four second-period goals at Conway Arena to break a scoreless tie and even their record at 7-7.
Wyatt Seelig had two goals and an assist, with Henry Cotter, Jack Wilkinson and Ronan Przydzielski adding a goal and an assist each. Ryder Wilson had a goal, Trevor Lichtenstein two assists and Jack Gardner and Mateo Trimble an assist each. Jo Jo Drent made 25 saves.
“Solid team effort,” Hanover coach Dick Dodds said. “We got contributions up and down the lineup and scored some of our prettiest goals of the year. Great passing and puck awareness.”
Hanover is home against Keene on Saturday.
BERLIN, N.H. — Tyler Christian scored the lone goal for the Raiders (1-14), who are home against Belmont-Gilford on Saturday.
WOODSTOCK — The Wasps fell to 4-13 and will travel to St. Johnsbury on Saturday for the final game of the regular season.
LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Hunter Clay and Jacob Gilman paced the Panthers (13-4) with 13 points each. Dillon Vance added 11 and Boone Fahey seven.
Thetford held a 14-8 first-quarter lead, but Lyndon scored 23 in the second to lead by two at halftime. After the break, the Panthers improved defensively, holding the Vikings to 15 points the rest of the way.
Thetford hosts Williamstown on Friday.
BRADFORD — The Olympians fell to 3-14 and play at Twinfield on Friday.
TILTON, N.H. — The No. 11 seed Tigers fell to the sixth-seeded Bears in the first round of the NHIAA Division III playoffs. Newport finishes the season at 8-10 and, with no seniors, is expected to bring the full roster back next year.
SOUTH ROYALTON — The Wildcats dismantled the Rebels, holding them scoreless in the first quarter and to five points for the half.
White River (15-4), which was up 26-5 at the half, was led by Tanner Drury with 13 points. Ella Perreault and Jillian Barry had 10 each. The Wildcats travel to Green Mountain on Saturday.
QUECHEE — The Eagles (5-11) had 14 points each from Alyssa Roberts and Rebekah Roberts.
MVCS led by a point after one quarter and opened up a 10-point halftime lead and scored 19 in the third quarter to put the game away.
The Eagles conclude the regular season at Arlington on Friday.
WOODSTOCK — The Wasps (3-16) play their final game of the regular season at home against Windsor on Friday.
HANOVER — Hanover’s Nicholas Van Citters, Margaret Frost, Elsa May and Adam Gilbert-Diamond finished fourth (28:04) in an 8-kilometer cross country relay race at Fullington Field.
Right behind in fifth (28:14) was the Lebanon team of Annie Hanna, Sophie Longacre, Francis Calandrella and James Barnett.
Each skier completed the one-kilometer course twice.
Teams from Hopkinton finished first and second, and Fall Mountain was third with 24 teams from four schools competing.
The Lebanon quartet of Ella Kourbatski, Sophia Mladek, Carson Jones and Otto Bourne was sixth (29:01) and Hanover’s William Parker, Heidi Davis, June Clark and Alexander Valentine finished eighth (30:49).
