Claremont OKs school budget, union contracts

CLAREMONT — In uncontested race, Heather Whitney and Candace Crawford were elected to three-year terms on the Claremont School Board in ballot voting on Tuesday.

Michael Petrin won a third seat as a write-in candidate for the board.

Voters also approved all articles on the warrant, including an operating budget of $39.58 million, as well as the cost of a new three-year collective bargaining agreement with the secretary association, which is expected to cost $103,000 for the first year.

They also supported the cost of a new three-year collective bargaining agreement with maintenance workers, which is expected to cost $88,000 in the first year, as well as the cost of $189,000 for a new contract with paraprofessionals.

Out of Claremont’s 6,126 registered voters, 562, or 9%, cast ballots on Tuesday.
